The ideal filling content for a comforter depends on the type of comforter, the season, and the environment in which it is used. Different materials have their optimal content range, directly affecting warmth and comfort.
1. Down Comforters: Down content recommended to be 90% or higher.
90%-95%: A cost-effective choice, highly warm, suitable for most families in winter.
≥95%: Top quality, high loft, lightweight and warm, suitable for extremely cold regions or those with high requirements for sleep experience.
Note: The new national standard in 2023 changed "down content" to "down fiber content." Look for this indicator when purchasing to avoid being misled by vague labeling.
2. Silk Comforters: Mulberry silk content recommended to be 100%.
100% long-filament mulberry silk: Smooth texture, breathable and temperature-regulating, not prone to clumping, long service life, the first choice for high-end products.
If labeled "mixed silk" or without specifying silk length, it may contain short silk fibers, which are prone to clumping and reduced warmth.
Filling weight reference: 2 jin (approximately 1 kg) for spring and autumn, 3-4 jin (1.5-2 kg) for winter.
3. Wool Quilt: Wool content should be ≥50%. National standards stipulate that wool quilts must contain at least 50% wool, but high-quality products typically contain over 70%, often combined with soybean fiber to enhance softness.
Too low a content may indicate the presence of synthetic fibers, affecting moisture absorption, wicking, and warmth retention.
4. Synthetic Fiber Quilt: Prefer a blend of porous structure and functional fibers. While there are no mandatory content standards, it is recommended to choose antistatic, breathable porous fibers, such as seven-hole or nine-hole fibers.
Adding more than 25% lyocell or soybean fiber can significantly improve skin-friendliness and moisture absorption, reducing stuffiness.
