Mattress protectors and mattress covers (also known as fitted sheets) are two types of bedding with similar functions but different designs and uses. They are primarily used to protect the mattress and improve sleep hygiene and comfort.

 

1. Mattress Protector

Basic Characteristics:

Full Coverage Design: Typically uses a zipper or elastic band structure to tightly wrap the entire mattress, providing 360° protection.

Enhanced Functionality: Most are waterproof, mite-proof, and antibacterial. The inner layer often uses TPU, PVC, or food-grade silicone film, effectively blocking liquid penetration (such as sweat and urine), dust mites, and bacteria.

Removable and Washable: Machine washable for easy cleaning, suitable for families with infants, pets, or people with allergies.

Diverse Materials: Common materials include cotton blends, bamboo fiber, and latex composite fabrics, balancing breathability and protection.

Moderate Thickness:Some products have a 1-3 cm filling layer, which can improve the sleeping experience to some extent, but its main function remains "protection" rather than "softening."

 

2. Fitted Sheet/Mattress Cover:
Basic Features:

Elastic Band Fixation: High-elastic bands at the four corners or all four sides ensure a tight fit to the mattress and prevent shifting.

Lightweight and Breathable: Mostly a single layer of fabric without a waterproof layer; its main functions are dustproof, stain-proof, and slip-resistant, keeping the mattress clean.

Alternative to a Mattress Cover: Some thicker models (such as quilted fitted sheets) have built-in fillings such as soybean fiber and cotton, eliminating the need for a mattress cover while improving comfort.

Easy to Wash: Machine washable, colorfast, and retains its shape, suitable for frequent replacement.

Class A Baby-Friendly Standard: High-quality products use Class A fabrics that are undyed, formaldehyde-free, and free of fluorescent agents, making them safe and gentle on the skin, suitable for babies.
