Determining whether a mattress cover needs replacement mainly depends on its physical condition, functional performance, and usage time. If any of the following signs appear, it is recommended to replace it promptly to ensure sleep hygiene and protective effectiveness.
Obvious Stains or Odors
Symptoms: The surface has stubborn yellow stains, bloodstains, urine stains, or mold spots, and an odor persists even after washing.
Risks: Stains harbor bacteria, fungi, and dust mites, which may cause skin allergies or respiratory problems.
Recommendation: If multiple cleanings are ineffective, replace it immediately.
Waterproofing Failure
Test Method: Pour a small amount of water onto the surface. Under normal circumstances, the water should bead up and roll. If the water quickly penetrates or the back is damp, it indicates that the TPU waterproof layer has aged.
Standard Reference: According to QB/T 4463-2022, a hydrostatic pressure ≥30kPa is considered合格 (qualified). If it falls below this value after long-term use, the protection has failed.
Recommendation: Especially for families with children, pets, or post-operative care needs, replace the mattress as soon as possible after waterproofing fails.
Fabric Damage or Seam Cracks
Symptoms: Tearful edges, damaged zippers, elastic bands losing elasticity, or loose stitching.
Impact: Loss of sealing, allowing dust and mites to directly penetrate the mattress.
Note: Even minor damage is difficult to repair; complete replacement is recommended.
Decreased Antibacterial and Anti-mite Performance
Indirect Judgment: Products used for more than 2 years that have not passed authoritative testing reports verifying washability may have an antibacterial rate below 90% (FZ/T 73023-2023 standard).
Applicable Scenarios: If allergy sufferers experience worsened rhinitis or itchy skin after replacement, it may be due to a decline in anti-mite function.
